Five years.

It really is hard believe I’ve been a published author for that long. I have gained so many wonderful experiences, developed friendships I would have never gained anywhere else, and felt more fulfilled than I ever have before.

Writing a book was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

But I couldn’t have said that when I first started out.

On that plotting call with my writing coach back in 2019, we discussed my first novel, The Earthspark, and he asked me, “Why are you writing this book?”

It took me several seconds before I could get my mouth wrapped around my answer. But when I did, I said, “Because I think it’s a story worth sharing.”

And that “why” has carried me through so many days when I just wanted to give up. I wanted to quit because this writing business is hard and I didn’t have the time for it.

I am so grateful for a husband who encouraged me to keep going and for the numerous readers who have reached out to tell me how that book had touched their lives in some way.

As the quote from that book states, “Light does more when shared.”

And I have never found a more true statement.
